Candlemas Masses Friday; Blessing of Throats Saturday; Holy Face, and more

Tomorrow, there are two opportunities at Assumption Grotto to go to Mass for Candlemas (also referred to as the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple; or, Purification of Mary).

First, there is a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form (1962 Missal) at 7:30 a.m., with the visiting Fr. Aidan Logan, O.C.S.o.

Second, is the monthly First Friday Mass at 7:00 P.M. This will be an EF Mass, as well. It may be high or low.

Blessed candles are available after both Masses.

This Saturday we will have the Blessing of Throats after the 7:30 A.M. Mass. It is the feast day of St. Blaise, and First Saturday. There is another opportunity after the secular Carmelites have a Communion service at 8:30 in the morning (sometimes there is a Mass when visiting priests are available).

See Fr. Perrone’s column where he details this devotion as it will happen at Assumption Grotto. Click the images below to read. You can also read more here.

Fr. Perrone’s column ends at the top of the second page. The rest of that page is filled with news of upcoming events – liturgical and secular.
